However inclusive they might seem at a first glance, German art academies have biased entry requirements.
Questions of language, gender, legal status, financial income, internet access and familiarity with digital technologies are at the very front lines of a long journey to get into art schools. During the application process one is constantly subjected to open up in front of the institution, providing documents, writing motivational letters, framing their works and finally going through an interview with the teaching staff
By The time you show up to the interview, the institution have a hand full of documents and visual materials which represents and identifies who you are.
you walk in the room, you have ten minutes, can you play along? can you sell yourself? are you ready for every question about your history, cultural identity, experience and plans? and if they put you in categories will you be able to break free or should you walk away now? This Game will let you go through one of tow interviews of your own choice. The first choice (Play Along) is a collection of questions that were asked to *fC members during there applications at various art schools.
The second choice (Play Away) is the *fC*Collective interview, the questions here are meant to imagine not an academy of inclusive mechanism. rather an artists community built with people who are still on the margins of western societies and the visitors of our venue.
